A reading of the novel Rastrojo (1944), of the Peruvian writer María Rosa Macedo, is proposed. It is a very interesting text in terms of the ambiguities that defined the relationship of the author with the cultural field of her time. This paper explores the process of production and reception of identities and subalternities emerged in the novel, where the racialization of a subjective map allows a restating of the past that produces and contains the fundamental identities of the Peruvian nation.
