Today the science of medicine is going through a change of paradigm, due to the development of molecular biology, eco- and molecular epidemiology and evidence-based medicine. The latter’s basic science is clinical epidemiology, understood as an investigative methodology, which has surged as a consequence of the widening gap between other investigative disciplines and the realities of our patients. Medical investigation becomes a necessity in each of these levels brought together by the knowledge of disease causing mechanisms, resulting in a holístically-integrated paradigm, inter and transdisciplinary.
