CANO, C et al. La Fracción del Aceite de Oliva (Fg-30), disminuye el área de la Quemadura con Costra Hipotrófica, escasa Secreción y Analgesia en Ratas con quemaduras de tercer grado. AVFT [online]. 2002, vol.21, n.2, pp.156-161. ISSN 0798-0264.

Olive oil has been used as a cicatrizing agent since unmemorable times. The chemical division of its components has let us isolate a fraction that we have denominated FG-30, which has a strong cicatrizing effect that in the present study was compared with that of Silver Sulfadiazine in terms of clinical evolution and reduction area percentage in rats with third degree burns. 22 Sprague-Dawley rats were studied, with weights oscillating between 220-250 g. and with third degree burns. These were divided into 3 groups: a control without treatment at all; an experimental one, which received topic treatment with FG-30; and another experimental with topic treatment with Sulfadiazine. The burned area was measured in the three groups on days 1, 10, 20 and 35 after starting the treatment, we also proceeded to the clinical observation of the wound. The treatment with FG-30 and Sulfadiazine made a significant improvement on the reduction of the burned area percentage on days 20 and 35 compared to the control group. In terms of clinical observation in the FG-30 group a poor secretion was observed, a hypotrophic, regular crust and analgesia; the sulfadiazine group presented an abundant secretion, a hypertrophy, deformed, fetid and white crust, and pain during 35 days of treatment period. The improvements made by the FG-30 were evident at macroscopic observation, which makes it an alternative in the treatment of burns.
