ABSTRACT The pregnancy induced hypertension, it is the most common complication during pregnancy, and it is a challenging clinical problem since their treatment considerably differs from non pregnant women. Under this pathology, lies a complex list of risk factors and a more complex physiopathology mechanisms yet not totally understood. For this reason, in the medical and obstetrical management subsists some controversies, even more considering that we are treating two patients; the hypertense mother and its non born child. In this paper we review the actual prophylaxis treatment, the medical management of hypertension and seizures and the suggested obstetric management in women suffering pre-eclampsia looking to at achieving a reduction in maternal-fetal and neonatal mortality.
