In this article there are reviewed the new advances in the HIV treatment. The availability of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) notably decreased the mortality and morbidity of HIV. To understand the context I will briefly expose the history of HIV and viral pathogenesis, the state of the art and finally the new drugs that are tested in clinical trials.
