C LARES, Mary; CASTRO, Jorge; BRITO³, Sara y OBREGON4, Oswaldo. Evaluación de un marcador de inflamación vascular vcam-1 y su asociación con factores protromboticos en una población normal y otra con diabetes tipo 2. AVFT [online]. 2006, vol.25, n.2, pp.92-95. ISSN 0798-0264.
The vascular adhesion molecule Vcam-1, reflects endothelial activation and can marking the chronic process inflammatory in the development of the atherosclerosis disease. Therefore, its knowledge will be essential for its possible application like marker for the appearance of cardiovascular disease, or in the design of treatments that allow modulating the inflammatory process. This work was lead with the purpose of comparing the values of Vcam-1, in a normal population (n=15) and with diabetes type 2 (n=19), relating it to other prothrombotics parameters of cardiovascular risk already known like the PAI-1 and the Tpa. The determination Vcam-1, PAI-1 and Tpa, was made by the ELISA method. The results of VCAM-1 in the normal population oscillate of 261.40 - 670.80 ng/dL and in the diabetics between 428.92 and 1795.30 ng/dL, being significantly (p < 0.05), elevated in the diabetic patients. On the other hand, did not obtain significant differences between the two populations for the parameters Pai-1 and Tpa. The analysis of this molecule, will allow to evaluate of a fast and simple way, the presence of a subclinical inflammatory process, being able to become a marker of the cardiovascular risk, and also like parameters of clinical interest in the pursuit of the patient of moderate risk that are put under changes in their form of life.
