Resumen
CONTRERAS, Freddy et al. Determinación del colesterol no-HDL, en pacientes diabéticos e hipertensos. AVFT [online]. 2008, vol.27, n.1, pp.76-78. ISSN 0798-0264.
Recently it has been suggested the use of non HDL cholesterol as a tool to evaluate the mortality risk for cardiovascular disease. Non HDL cholesterol is defined as the difference between total cholesterol and HDL and includes the lipoproteins fractions: LDL, IDL and VLDL and partides highly atherogenicas remnants of VLDL. The objetive of this study was to compare the non HDL cholesterol as marker of cardiovascular risk in a population healthy, diabetic and hypertensive. We observed that non HDL cholesterol values were greater in control group, whereas LDL did not show a marked variability in patients with high risk. Non HDL cholesterol showed to be a single and rapid way to estimate the risk for cardiovascular disease.
Palabras clave : Non HDL cholesterol; LDL cholesterol; atherosclerosis.
