Resumen
SINAI FRAGOZA, G. Epidemiology of scorpion in the state of Miranda: Santaella Victorino Ruiz Hospital. 2005-2008. AVFT [online]. 2012, vol.31, n.3, pp.44-50. ISSN 0798-0264.
Given the frequency of scorpion accidents, reached from the year 2006 in urbanized perimeters of the city study found that this phenomenon is relatively recent and has taken by surprise health personnel unfamiliar with studies on the behavior of scorpion envenomation effects, measures to address the cases, the antidote and the treatment prescribed. Hence, this work assumes the purpose of enhancing knowledge about the epidemiology of the Scorpion, through a retrospective, descriptive, transactional-based review of a population of 667 case histories recorded in the Hospital Victorino Santaella Ruiz, Los Teques during the years 2005-2008, which were taken as shown in its entirety. For the type of sources and procedures used, the study corresponds to a document that allowed research to collect data related to indicators of the phenomenon, for further processing and analysis using descriptive statistics. It was revealed that the victims came from urbanized areas, the scorpion has already invaded the homes and other buildings where their presence is unsuspected and attacks, without distinguishing age groups, most often in the months from May to July, that can lead to complications to produce death and which are still limited knowledge and techniques to deal with the situation, which hinders proper prophylaxis and implementation of a proposal for community prevention.
