Resumen
ARMAS, María et al. The effect of combined levothyroxine-clenbuterol over aortic artery in Sprague-Dowley rats. AVFT [online]. 2014, vol.33, n.4, pp.89-92. ISSN 0798-0264.
The aim of this study was to describe the effect of the combined drugs Levothyroxine-clenbuterol on the aorta in Sprague-Dowley rats. Four treatments to Sprague-Dowley rats were established. The animals were dosed for 21 days with Clenbuterol; levothyroxine; Clenbuterol + Levothyroxine orally. Were practiced euthanasia and necropsy. Macroscopic study, morphological aortic artery, aorta samples were collected for histological study was conducted. The results are as follows: Control group evidenced normal aorta. Clenbuterol Group: in the tunica media: degenerative changes with intracytoplasmic vacuolization (25%). Focal necrosis and bleeding (10%). Marked hypertrophy of the intima with increased production of collagen fibers, the adventitia with moderate focal degenerative changes. Levothyroxine In Group: in the tunica media: degenerative changes with intracytoplasmic vacuolization (15%) are observed. Marked hypertrophy of the intima with increased production of collagen fibers in the adventitia: mild focal degenerative changes. Clenbuterol + Levothyroxine Group: the intima: no significant lesions were observed in the tunica media: degenerative changes seen with intracytoplasmic vacuolization (10%). Marked hypertrophy of the intima with increased production of collagen fibers, in the adventitia no significant lesions. In conclusion we describe the morphological, macroscopic and histological patterns in the aorta with Clenbuterol therapy, levothyroxine, Levothyroxine Clenbuterol-in Sprague / Dawley rats.
