The accurate and rapid identification of mycobacterial infections is very important as a late these can cause the spread of disease with serious consequences, particularly in patients with some form of deterioration in their immune barrier including HIV / AIDS patients diagnosis. For this reason it is necessary to implement new diagnostic tools in order to shorten the time of growth. the comparison between the conventional culture method Lowenstein-Jensen solid medium (L-J), and automated method of rapid culture in liquid medium by Bact / Alert 3D was done in this study. 547 pulmonary and extrapulmonary samples from symptomatic patients, of these 278 (50.82%) were HIV / AIDS patients were analyzed. Identification of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) was performed by determining the TBAgMPT 64 SD BIOLINE rapid test for the identification of non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) biochemical test used recommended. The results regarding the number of mycobacterial isolates were: 46 (76.67%) by the solid medium L-J, 54 (90.00%) by BacT / Alert 3D, while both methods of cultivation was possible to obtain 40 isolates. (66.67%). By species Mycobacterium tuberculosis was the etiologic agent isolation highest percentage (82.93%). The method of rapid culture in liquid medium by Bact / Alert 3D team showed a 90.91% sensitivity, specificity 95.08%, 94.48% and 0.86 concordance Youden index. For the above we must emphasize the diagnostic importance of these infections to face the correct and timely specific treatment in both immunocompetent and immunodeficient, high/risk population group.
