Introduction: The consumption of bottled water has increased due to consumer concerns about contamination of tap water. Physico-chemical and microbiological quality of sachet water sold in the downtown area of the City of Maracaibo was evaluated. Materials and methods: 10 analysed watermark, of each of them were processed 15 bags. Is determined the parameters physico-chemical: color, pH, turbidity, nitrate and nitrite residual, following those guidelines methodological of the Association American of health public. He analysis microbiological is led to out through the count of aerobic mesophyll, coliforms total, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, using those methods Petrifilm and number more likely. Results: is could observe that the color in a 80% of the samples exceeded them standards of quality, the pH between 6.86 to 7,88 and the turbidity between 0.3 and 7,49 units Nephelometric of turbidity. Nitrites were present in 7 brands analyzed 10 whose concentrations exceeded allowable limits. All of the samples exceeded the microbiological requirements for the count of aerobic mesophyll and p. aeruginosa, coupled with this, 80% had total coliforms, with absence of e. coli in all brands. The results indicated that the 100% of them samples studied not met with them requirements physico- chemical and microbiological required by them standards COVENIN and Gazette official of Venezuela, therefore, is considered not suitable for consumption human.
