A service of Radiology should produce images of good quality, without irradiating the patient unnecessarily and with the smallest possible cost. For the Universyti Hospital of Caracas (HUC) the consideration of this approach is important to improve the attention in the radiology services. The development of a program in this address can be begun with the evaluation of the radiographys that are discarded and those that are rejected by not having the necessary quality for the diagnosis, the causes of such rejections, and the percentages of rejection. Presently work was carried out this analysis of the films discarded in the General Service of Radiology of the HUC. The result of this analysis showed that the number of rejected films is considerable when comparing it with the recommended limit. When evaluating the causes it was observed that they are related with the operation of the equipment of the service, difficulties associated with the exam, the personal competitions, or a combination of these elements. Concluded that to pay the opposing problems a program of control of quality it should be established and to be implemented the personal continuous education. These measures will improve the efficient and the effective of the service, and they will impact in the optimization of the resources.
