The social environment is a conditional factor of the nutritional status, in particular vulnerable groups. The objective of this work is to analyze the nutritional status of students and the socioeconomic condition of their family group. 535 students were evaluated, between ages 5 and 12, matriculated in the Unidad Educativa Gran Colombia, for the 1995-1996 school year . The nutritional status was determined through the presumed diagnostic for combination of indicators (P-E, P-T and T-E), the Body Mass Index, Fat and Muscular Area, the results were compared with values of national and international reference. The social level was measured through Graffar method. In nutritional anthropometric was found for the first school years of age, a behavior similar to the values of reference of the Transversal Study of Caracas and the NCHS, upon advancing in age there is a gap in favor of these last. More than 75% are found inside the Norm, 8% overweight and the rest with Malnutrition. The families of the kids evaluated, were placed social level III (21,12%), IV (40,56%) y V (38,32%). If association was found statistically significant between the Nutritional Diagnostic and Social Level (χ2 = 14,11 and p = 0,01). It is concluded, that the behavior of nutritional values of anthropometric were expected, thus upon not associating it with the Socioeconomic Condition.
