Objective: To determine the frequency of myomatosis uterine in the patients that responded to the consultation of gynecology and obstetrics. Method: Was carried out a descriptive study of cross cut to the population of 1 437 patients that responded to the consultation. Setting: University Central Hospital Type IV "Dr. Antonio María Pineda" of Barquisimeto, during January to March of 2001. Results: Of this population the 6.40 % (92 cases) presented myomatosis uterine, constituting the sample of the study. The 57,61 % (53 cases) of the sample had ages among 36-45 years. The 23.91 % (22 patients) referred to smoke, 14 cases (15.22 %) were nulligravida, the 24 patients (26,09 %) utilized oral anticonception and 32 patients presented medical pathology of which 12 (13.04 %) had arterial hypertension. Conclusions: The frequency of myomatosis uterine reported, is very significant taking into account that all were symptomatic cases and its treatment generates very high costs and surgical risks.
