This paper mentions the evolution of patient rights and describes situations related to the terminally ill patient, the ethical dilemmas for doctors, patients, and family members; the patient autonomy for taking certain decisions, and finally, the religious conflicts for patients and their families. It does not intent to be a textbook on ethical issues, but only to express thoughts regarding these difficult moments for patients and families.
