Abstract

The evaluation of the hypokinetism as a risk factor for the health is exploring. With this objective, the habits of physical activity and the level of cardiovascular risk factors were analyzed, in 314 nonathletes students of the Universidad Central de Venezuela with ages between 17-29 years-old, by means of the application of the International of Physical Activity Questionnaire, IPAQ (2004), and Hoeger y Hoeger’s (2002) questionnaire for the estimation of the cardiovascular risk. The overall results indicated that 31.53 % of the subjects had a physical activity level related to the hypokinetism. Were make evident that the young women analyzed, showing the majors levels for the cardiovascular risk. Associations between gender and cardiovascular risk category, as well as between this last, and physical activity level, pointing out that the hypokinetism represent an additional cardiovascular risk factor in the development of non transmissible chronic diseases among the evaluated students.
