Abstract

Purpose: To present a case of one patient with foveal hypoplasia as an isolated ocular finding. Design: Observational case report. Methods: A 17-year-old man presented decreased vision since childhood, nystagmus, absent foveal reflexes, and capillaries crossing the horizontal meridian was diagnosed with Isolated foveal hypoplasia using fundus photography and optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans through of the central foveal. Results: The clinical diagnostic was complemented with the Optical coherence tomography.  La OCT showed extension of all neurosensory retinal layers through the area in which the fovea would normally be located. Conclusion: Optical coherence tomography can be used to complement clinical diagnosis of foveal hypoplasia.
