Abstract

It was realizada prospective, descriptive and transversal study to evaluatevaginal hysterectomy accord to Heaney´s technique in 30 patients with fibroids without hysterocele, attended in Service of Ginecology at Hospital Universitario de Caracas, between July and December 2004. The mean uterine volume was 257 cm3. The morcellation technique was realized in 80 % of cases, for big size of uterus. The mean of hemoglobin decrease was 1.11 g/ dL. It were realized 2 laparotomy, one of them was hemorrhage and the other for big size of uterus. The complications were vesical lesion (3,5 %), hematoma (1 %) and granuloma of vaginal cupola. Post surgery pain was light and discharge time was 29 hours.
