Propolis is a bee product with medicinal properties. In this work, propolis from The Andes was incorporated into a candy base. The propolis candies were evaluated for their colour, flavour, texture, hardness and disgregability, and compared with two brands of medicinal candies. A questionaire was done to evaluate the knowledge of propolis and to check the acceptation of candy in the community of Merida. A brief discussion on the need of Venezuelan propolis quality standards is presented as a need to launch propolis value-added products. This new propolis galenic formula in the Venezuelan market would be useful to promote apitherapy and the national bee industry.
