RAMIREZ S*, Manuel S; MUJICA, Yovanny A  e  PASCUZZO L, Carmine. Estudio retrospectivo de las reacciones adversas a los medicamentos en dos hospitales de Barquisimeto: Título Resumido: RAM en pacientes hospitalizados . INHRR [online]. 2005, vol.36, n.2, pp.18-43. ISSN 0798-0477.

Abstract   retrospective study on adverse drug reactions in two hospitals IN barquisimeto. The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency of Adverse Drug Events (ADR) in the two main hospitals located in Barquisimeto, Lara State. The methods included a retrospective, critical review of medical records obtained from 62456 hospitalized patients discharged between 1998 and 2002, from the “Doctor Agustín Zubillaga” Pediatric Hospital (DAZPH) and the Medicine Department of the “Doctor Antonio María Pineda” Hospital (MDDAMP). The analysis was descriptive. There were only 37 valid ADR reports found in this study. This amounted to a reporting rate of 5.92 ADR per 10,000 discharged patients, being 7.88 and 5.36 per 10,000 discharged patients in the MDDAMP and DAZPH respectively. The evidence suggests an extreme underreporting of ADR in Barquisimeto and therefore urgent remedial measures are needed.
