Abstract The necessity of bioethics in the curriculum has been discussed in a recent multidisciplinary meeting at the University of The Andes. In this work, ethical principles and key documents on bioethics are reviewed, to re-compose an undivisible reality. The function of bioethical committees to consider matters on conflict of interest, informed consent and return of benefits, is mentioned. Interest should be transmitted to students of carrers in health science to improve the human sense of scientific research, while the academic proposals become official
