Attention is drawn to the National Academy of Medicine in regard to a disease common to domestic animals and occasionally to humans; that is, anthrax bacillus or anthrax fever. We are determined to study the immunization methods for animals with the preventive vaccination through attenuated bacilli; to appraise the blood and lymph smears, spleen sap, ganglions and autopsies of dead animals and also to examine a batch of 150 cattle suffering daily deaths from 5 to 10. We found the classic carbuncle bacterid in blood of sick and dead animals, and in the autopsies observed all the lesions of hemic and intestinal carbuncle in spleen, gali, intestines and testicles. We carried out seeding in broth, gelatine and agar; and inoculated blood in 2 rabbits, and broth culture in mice, guinea pigs, rabbits and grey rats. They all died in between 24 hours and 3 days after. We organized a series of inoculations to prove germ virulence. We have been training in the exaltation and attenuation of our bacterids. Malignant pustule is common in humans, relatively benign in the Plains but severe in Tachira, San Fernando and Valencia with death occurrence.
