SUMMARY A thyroglossal duct cyst is a congenital anomaly resulting from retention of epithelial tract between the thyroid and its origin, the foramen cecum, at the floor of the pharynx. Carcinoma papillary originating in thyroglossal duct cyst is a rare event, minor of 1 %. As far as we know, only 150 cases of thyroglosal duct cyst carcinoma have been reported in the international literature. We present a case of papillary carcinoma of thyroglossal duct cyst treated in the Head and Neck Surgery Service of the Instituto Oncológico Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño (national reference center), which, it represents the only case treated in our Institute in the laps included from 1986 and the 2003, (17 years).
