The clinical presentation of the carcinoid tumors may vary, depending on its physical characteristics, place of origin and if they are or not producing of hormonally active substances. The carcinoid tumors can be classified from two points of view: anatomopathological or embryological, being the latter, the most frequent. We present a clinical case of 40 years old male patient, whom in medical exam was evident an epigastric tumor. In the para clinic evaluation with abdominal scan, was demonstrated a heterogeneous tumor in relationship with hepatic left lobe, with enhancement of endovenous constrast. An exploratory laparatomy was performed, finding a tumor of approximating 14 cm of diameter, at retro-peritoneal localization; the anatomy pathological study reported: neuroendocrine tumor and the immunehys tochemical stain reported a carcinoid tumor. Due to the slight frequency of the retroperitoneal location of this pathology, we report this clinical case and the literature is reviewed.
