REIGOSA, ALDO et al. Valoración Del Infiltrado Inflamatorio Y Su Relación Con Otros Factores Pronósticos En Cáncer De Mama. Rev. venez. oncol. [online]. 2006, vol.18, n.2, pp.85-91. ISSN 0798-0582.
The significance of the inflammatory infiltrate intra or per tumour in breast cancer is very controversial. With the objective to apply a semiautomatic quantitative system for the calculation of the inflammatory infiltrate, and compare it with other known prognostic factors in breast carcinoma we selected 124 patients diagnosed and treated in the Institute of Oncology Dr. Miguel Perez Carreño, between the years 1987-1996. This index was related with the tumour size, number and lymphatic axilar node status, histological type and grade, clinical stage and the patients evolution. We observed a slight relation between the lymphoid index and the clinical stage (P> 0.05). The utile parameters found with prognostic value were the tumour size (P< 0.01), histological grade (P< 0.05) and the clinical stage (P< 0.01). In conclusion, in this present study, the inflammatory infiltrate does not play any prognostic role in the breast carcinoma.
