SALDIVIA, FELIPE et al. Valor Predictivo Del Ca 15-3 Como Marcador Tumoral En Cáncer De Mama. Rev. venez. oncol. [online]. 2006, vol.18, n.2, pp.92-97. ISSN 0798-0582.
The sensibility of the tumor markers in the breast cancer oscillates among 25 % - 30 % in the localized tumors and 75 % - 85 % in the metastasic tumors. The main application of these markers is the precocious diagnosis of relapse and in the follow up control. The increase of CA 15-3 is the first sign of tumors relapse in 50 % of the patients with metastasis. The general objective of the study is determine the predictive value of the tumoral marker CA 15-3 in the response to the treatment and follow up of the patients treated in the Breast Pathology Service of the Instituto de Oncología Dr. Miguel Pérez Carreño in the year 2003. We realized a not experimental study, descriptive and retrospective. Clinical histories of the Department of Medical Files of our institution were revised. The 100 % of the patients were of the feminine sex, the age average was 52 years old. Of 100 revised histories, 80 % had reported marker CA 15-3, well be, before, during or after the treatment. A descent of the marker value was observed in 63.41 %, and an increase value in 36.58 % remaining after the treatment, coinciding with 12.19 % of the cases that presented progression of the desease.
