SUAREZ, Carmen María et al. Introducción de la histerectomía laparoscópica en un servicio de ginecología oncológica. Rev. venez. oncol. [online]. 2006, vol.18, n.3, pp.152-157. ISSN 0798-0582.
OBJECTIVES: Describe the experience acquired in laparoscopic hysterectomies performed in patients with benign or premalignant gynecological conditions in a surgical service of gynecologic oncology. METHODS: A prospective and descriptive study was made that included 25 patients scheduled for laparoscopic hysterectomy during a 22 month period, between August of 2004 and June of 2006. For each operation, the following data were systematically collected into a database: Age, preoperative diagnosis, previous pelvic surgery, body weight, intraoperative blood loss, intraoperative complications, hospital stay and postoperative outcome. RESULTS: Twenty five patients were included with a mean age of 47.5 years and an average body weight of 65 kilograms. The 68,75 % of patients had previous pelvic surgery. The procedure was completed laparoscopically in 24 patients and the conversion rate was 4 %. Intraoperative bladder injury occurred in one case. Average operating time was 134 minutes and mean intraoperative blood loss was 240 mL. The mean hospital stay was of 2 days. CONCLUSIONS: Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a technically feasible procedure that can be performed with low morbidity rate and great advantages to the patients. This procedure must be introduced in Gynecologic Surgical Services for approach and management of benign and malignant gynecologic diseases.
