Alecia Freites de Acosta (1929) A synthesis of her professional activity and fair recognition of her outstanding professional work is presented in the Library of the Institute of Experimental Medicine (IME), of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), an institution in the which he served for 54 years and in the creation and operation of the Venezuelan Network of Medical Libraries. Born in Calabozo, Guarico state. Graduated in Librarianship (UCV, 1966, with excellent professional training. He organized innumerable medical libraries, in various public and private institutions and in various hospitals in Venezuela, as well as in international health organizations. Advisor and consultant of the Office's Representation in Venezuela Sanitaria Panamericana (PAHO / WHO). Founder (1973) and coordinator of SINADIB (Venezuelan National Biomedical Documentation and Information System). Developed a biomedical information program for rural medications and hospitals in the interior of the country. Founding member of SINASBI (National System Library and Information Services Department (1976- together with a team of professionals). He worked in the development of the programs of the Regional Library of Medicine (BIREME / Brazil), created by PAHO / WHO, in Sao Paulo Brazil. of the School of Medical Librarians and in the School of Librarianship and Archivology of the Faculty of Humanities and Education of the UCV. Founding member of ANABISAI (National Association of Directors of Libraries, Networks and Information Services of the Academic.
