Food culture is currently booming as a topic of academic interest, since food practices have become a common element in the study and analysis of different sociocultural systems. For this reason, this article has set itself the objective of making a multidisciplinary review of the concept, examining the approaches of relevant authors who have addressed the food paradigm in different historical periods. Based on the documentary review, it is concluded that although it constitutes a broad material system of agricultural and culinary practices, food culture is redefined over time mainly by its subjective aspects such as the ideas, values and meanings socially constructed regarding food. which is considered food.
