Abstract: IIn the 21st century, the Clinical Nutritionist (NC) incorporated research leadership into its clinical activities, conducting studies from their formulation, execution, and dissemination, using multidisciplinary methodology and teams. NC faces the challenge of leading the production of scientific evidence, becoming involved not only in the application of guidelines but also in their design and validation. Continuing education, academic integration, networking, mastery of bioethics, health economics, and scientific communication are pillars of the research profile. The often-underestimated role of the nutritionist in research and their importance in optimizing clinical outcomes are highlighted. The paper demonstrates how scientific advances transform discipline, as well as the challenges of the research process. The aim is to highlight the NC’s leadership in multidisciplinary, promote the integration of evidence-based medicine and nutrition, with their strengths and weaknesses, evaluate cost-benefit, apply technologies such as artificial intelligence/ big data to validate diagnostic and therapeutic protocols for the benefit of the scientific population and patients, recognize ethics and equity in the processes, be a reference for health professionals, and perform effective and accurate diagnoses and treatments. A combined information search approach was applied using AI-assisted tools for the initial tracking of relevant references in the field of nutrition and research, with manual verification and expansion of the bibliographic framework in a traditional way, in direct searches with academic databases Google, Scholar, Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, ensuring rigorous and up-to-date support for the content. The update has shown how research is a fundamental pillar in the continuous improvement of clinical nutrition, at a practical and scientific level. Research allows for daily improvement and provides tools to offer patients an effective and successful nutritional approach. Research, combined with emerging technologies such as AI, positions the clinical nutritionist as key to the continuous improvement of patient care, ensuring more informed and focused decisions. The NC’s institutional presence has demonstrated the effectiveness of nutritional therapy treatments through research. The NC enhances the critical and professional spirit, encouraging multidisciplinary staff to constantly question and analyze clinical practice
