A characterization was carried out on a sample of 55 miners, consisting of 41 men and 14 women, predominantly aged between 51 and 60 years old. Among them, 19 miners are not formalized, 25 use Mercury, and 28 lack health training.

The results highlight deficiencies in formal education, institutional organization, and governmental support. Miners face economic precariousness and exposure to occupational and environmental risks. Community, governmental, and academic interventions are needed to improve living and working conditions and promote safe, healthy, and sustainable mining practices.
