The article examines the impact of the participatory budget on the management of the municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government (GAD) of Portoviejo, province of Manabí, Ecuador, in 2023; Using the mixed approach technique, mostly quantitative, data was collected through structured surveys and interviews. The need to strengthen the inclusion of citizen proposals, improve communication platforms and increase the transparency and accessibility of budget information to promote more democratic and effective management is highlighted.
