A narrative review of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) for the design of learning experiences for the 2020-2025 period was conducted. A systematic literature search was conducted in Scopus and WoS databases and academic journals. GenAIs were identified as tools for supporting and personalizing learning; the importance of literacy and ethical considerations were highlighted, as well as new forms of teaching and learning. It was concluded that the impact of integrating GenAI into adaptive and personalized learning environments increases student engagement.
