Resumen
HARO, Roger E. y PINAS, Karen D.. Challenges, obstacles and benefits in the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in public investments: a systematic review of the literature (2017-2025). Espacios [online]. 2025, vol.46, n.6, pp.1-13. Epub 30-Ene-2026. ISSN 0798-1015. https://doi.org/10.48082/espacios-a25v46n06p01.
This review of 50 studies (2017-2025) on BIM in public investments highlights benefits such as reduced costs (15-23%), time (18-28%), irregularities (25-40%), and carbon footprint (12-20%). Effectiveness depends on regulatory frameworks, technical capabilities, and institutional contexts. Developed countries have advanced implementations, while emerging countries face obstacles. BIM is a key tool for improving transparency, sustainability, and efficiency in public management.
