TALAMANTES CASTORENA, Ismael et al. Dropout rate in three Agricultural Faculties at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), Mexico. Espacios [online]. 2026, vol.47, n.1, pp.216-230. Epub 28-Feb-2026. ISSN 0798-1015. https://doi.org/10.48082/espacios-a26v47n01i18.
This quantitative study analyzes the intention to drop out of school among 820 students from three agricultural faculties at the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), Mexico. Four critical dimensions were identified: academic, motivational-emotional, socio-familial, and economic. The findings reveal that the lack of scholarships, stressful assessments, irrelevant methodologies, and psychosocial factors (anxiety, lack of belonging) are the main predictors of risk. Mentoring strategies, curricular adjustments, and financial aid are proposed to improve student retention.
