This study systematically reviews and analyzes publications on formative research competencies in initial teacher education following the PRISMA protocol. Thirty Scopus-indexed articles were included, highlighting the relevance of integrating formative research into teacher education curricula. The findings underscore its value as both a curricular alternative and a pedagogical methodology that fosters investigative practice, enhancing learning, critical thinking, and academic engagement within classroom and community contexts.
