This article presents a literature review of the application of gamification in university teaching, based on 20 studies from Scopus and SciELO (2018-2025). The results show that gamification enhances motivation, engagement, and academic performance while strengthening self-regulation and teacher-student interaction. Five key areas stand out: pedagogical innovation, motivation, digital competencies, gamified design, and academic impact. Despite its benefits, challenges persist regarding teacher training, institutional resources, and time management.
