This paper explains the results of a study on the influence of the ideas found in various works by Erasmus of Rotterdams (especially his Praise of Folly) on Alfonso de Valdés Diálogo de Mercurio y Carón. The main elements in which this influence is noticeable are outlined, and also some differences between both authors ideas that indicate how Valdés valuable contributions were built on Erasmus thoughts.
