This article first analyzes the idea of Europe in Condorcet´s work, undoubtedly a fundamental idea of european thinkers of the eighteenth century. But Condorcet´s reflection on Europe is at the same time a reflection on America once the so called American Revolution took place. Condorcet analyzes the influence of this Revolution on the renewal of the old Europe and tries to find convergences as well as differences between the American and the French (european) approach towards political freedom.
