Resumen
PEREZ-ESTEVEZ, Antonio. Duns Scotus: The Logical Possible and its Relation to Being. RF [online]. 2005, vol.23, n.51, pp.07-17. ISSN 0798-1171.
The logical possible (ens), in relation to being, is divided in necessary being and possible being. Existence belongs essentially to necessary being (it is impossible for it not to be) but contingently to the possible being (it can or cannot be). Duns Scotus defines possible being as something in itself neither necessary nor contradictory. Existence does not belong essentially to or is incompatible with possible being, (due to non-contradiction of its terms) but belongs to it contingently (for it can be or cannot be) because it is the contingent effect of a free and contingent action of Gods omnipotent will.
Palabras clave : Duns Scotus; necessary being; possible being; logical possible.
