Laureano Vallenilla Lanz is one of the most influential intellectuals from Venezuela at the end of 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. He belongs to the generation of theorists who were nourished fundamentally by positivist doctrine and made of it a tool for developing the interpretation of our reality in order to build a stable and prosperous nation. The ideas guiding the present examination gather their posture before history, the individual and society, religion, education, centralism, war and peace.

Palabras clave : Laureano Vallenilla Lanz; positivism; history; education.
