The present study was carried out for establish seroprevalence and agriecoepidemiology of the trypanosomosis due Trypanosoma vivax in two buffalo (Bubalis bubalis) farms of the eastern of Guárico state, Venezuela. During the raining season (July to October, 1991) a total of 240 blood samples of Murrah Belgian buffalo races were analyzed by the immunofluorescent antibody test (IFAT). Data gathered included: characterization of farms and the studied area with the objective to correlate with seroprevalence. Results showed an 29.5% average of seroprevalence, with an etarian distribution of 75% in adults animals. Sex distribution was 75% in females and 25% in males. Both farms were in the life zone E (tropical dry forest) and the ecological unities E101 and E110. One farm produced simultaneously bovine cattle associated with crops (sorghum and maize), and the extention of farms was more 500 ha with high presence of tabanus. It is concluded that trypanosomosis due T. vivax in buffaloes reached a high seroprevalence in dual purpose systems with buffaloes under pasture
