PEREZ-AREVALO, María L. et al. Embryo Mortality in Chicken Due to Aflatoxin B1 Transovarian Transmitted. Rev. Cient. (Maracaibo) [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.3, pp.275-279. ISSN 0798-2259.
The effect of transovarian transmitted aflatoxin B1 in the poultry embryo mortality was studied. An experimental trial was performed with 30 Isa Brown hens, distributed in three group of ten each. In order to obtain fertile eggs hens were inseminated. During ten days they were fed with aflatoxin contaminated food as following: treatment 1; no detectable (control), treatment 2; 0.02 mgIkg, treatment 3; 4 mg/kg. 246 fertile eggs were obtained from two different incubation lots. Lot A: eggs colleted during the last 7 days of the toxin administration and lot B: eggs colleted along the seven days after the toxin administration. The eggs were classificated by treatment and incubation lot, the embryo mortality was evaluated using an ovoscopy. Embryo mortality was significantly affected by treatment 3 (4 mg/kg), lots A and B (P<0.0 1).
