VILA VALLS, Vicente et al. Vascularización arterial del Ovario durante el ciclo Estral en Ovinos. Rev. Cient. (Maracaibo) [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.4, pp.341-348. ISSN 0798-2259.

Arterial Vascularization of the Ovary During the Estrous Cycle in Sheep. ABSTRACT Ovarian irrigation in 18 reproductive y mature ewes during estrous cycle with emphasis in corpora lutea elimination was studied through dissection, tissue clarification, corrosion cast, light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X ray techniques. An arterial network with its origin in uterine and ovarian arteries was observed on the surface of the uterine vein. During the phases of estrus cycle, differences on ovarian irrigation were observed; in ovaries with corpora lutea from ewes on day 8 post - heat, a well defined irrigation was evident. By constrast, in ovaries with corpora lutea from ewes on 14 and 18 days post - heat, arteries diminished in number and diameter. These results show the need of further studies concerning the vascular structures of the uterus in the sheep, ovaries and vagina in order to better understanding of luteolisis mechanism.
