GARCIA, Danny Eugenio et al. Effect of the nutritional substrate in the chemical composition and nutritives value of red worm (eisenia spp.) Meal. Rev. Cient. (Maracaibo) [online]. 2009, vol.19, n.1, pp.55-62. ISSN 0798-2259.
Chemical composition and nutritive value of Red Worm (Eisenia spp.) dehydrated meal were evaluated previously fed with 4 substrates characterized in dry base (BS) [S0: bovine manure 100%; S1: bovine manure 97% + banana cook stump 1% + remainder of bovines feed 2%; S2: bovine manure 95% + cane stump 3% + remainder of bovines feed 2%; S3: bovine manure 96% + cane stump 3% + banana cook stump 1%]; an experiment was carried out in Trujillo State, Venezuela, using a randomized design and five replicates per treatment. The quantified chemical variables were: dry matter (MS), crude protein (PC), true protein (PV), soluble protein (PS), total fats (GrT), saturated fatty acids (AGS), mono-unsaturated fatty acids (AGI), poly-unsaturated fatty acids (AGP), gross energy (EB), fibrous fraction (FDN and FDI), aminoacidic profile, minerals (Ca, P, Mg, K, Na, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn) and ash (Cz). Pepsin and pancreatin digestibility (MS, PC and MO), in vitro ruminal digestibility (MS, PC and MO) and in situ ruminal degradability (MS, PC and MO) were determined. Only significant differences were observed in ash, Fe and Mn contents (P<0.05). High protein concentrations (>53% MS), energetic fraction and amino acids levels were observed. Not important variations in the chemical composition and nutritive value of Eisenia spp. meals with tried substrates were observed. This source could be satisfactorily used as proteinic supplement in animal nutrition.
