Economic and financial information of 2003 was analyzed to compare the economic and financial behavior between dual purpose cattle systems at Sucre Municipality of Zulia State, Venezuela, with different herd size. Stratified random sampling with proportional affixation (9.16%) was used; the data was classified into five groups according to herd size. Frequency and mean, analyses were performed. It was used a questionnaire to collect data. It is a comparative and descriptive research and the fieldwork. According to economic behaviour, the small cattle-farms showed negative balance at the end of the financial year, because of increased costs of these farmers, which means are not profitable. Stratum 3 showed positive balance and similar profitability than stratum 5 at the end of the financial year. The stratum 4 and 5 presented the better economic performance to herd size and quality, which had the highest gain. Income per farm, cost per farm and profit per farm increases as herd size does. Presented low profitability indexes, due to high investment inassets. The financial behaviour presented appropriate solvency that allow paying debt in a short run. Total property rotation presented sale amount was not sufficient given property inversion. Large size cattle-farms do not present debit side in their financial structure.
