SILVA, Dionel; PENA, María Elena  y  URDANETA, Fátima. Registers of control and performance indicators in dual purpose cattle. Rev. Cient. (Maracaibo) [online]. 2010, vol.20, n.1, pp.88-100. ISSN 0798-2259.

The research was realized in order to compare obtained control registers and results indicators in dual purpose cattle productions systems (SPGDP) at Libertad Parish on Machiques of Perijá Municipality in Zulia State, Venezuela. It was used a sample of 64 farms (32% of population). They were selected through a stratified random sample with proportional fixation. It was taken through a validated questionnaire social, technical and management information which was codified in a data matrix. It was used as statistical technique, absolute, relative and percentage frequency distribution. The obtained results allowed to describe SPGDP characteristics, also, performed activities control registers and reproductive, technical, productive and economical systems indicators. When the registers are used they look with little reliability and systematized, which has generated difficulty to update them and a control process non satisfactory; there is an evident improvisation level between goals and evaluation. 408.2 days in calving interval, 239.7 days in lactation length, 249.2 days in weaning age, 35.4 months in the first calving age, 5.56 years at sire longevity, 0.9 UA / ha at animal average load were performance studied indicators in systems that use registers and 0.8 UA/ ha in systems where registers are not used. Performance indicators are milk and meat production which depends on the number of establishments and raising, growth and fatten calf activities. The results indicate that those producers that use registers have better technical, productive and economic rates than the other ones who don’t use them. In fact those producers observe the importance about control activities in different performanced activities in all these systems operations.
