Abstract
SPADAVECCHIA, URSULA and GONZALEZ, GEMA. Nanometric hydroxyapatite synthesis for medical applications. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2007, vol.22, n.4, pp.37-44. ISSN 0798-4065.
Two methods were employed in this study in order to obtain Hydroxyapatite (HA). The processes were carried out mixing salts of calcium and phosphor. The suspension was aged, without agitation, from 3 to 21 days at 25 ºC and they were aged at 90, 125 and 150 ºC for 3 days, in order to study the influence of time and temperature in the materials crystallization. The products were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Transmission and Scanning Electron Microscopy (TEM and SEM), and Inductive Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) for chemical analysis. From both methods crystalline HA was obtained, with particle sizes under 100 nm and a Ca/P ratio in the range of 1.50 and 1.75. These results give the obtained materials good characteristics for medical applications.
