Abstract
MENDEZ, María E; BRICENO, José I and GONZALEZ, Aura M. Electrochemical oxidation of organic compounds in effluents from a milky process plant. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.2, pp.79-86. ISSN 0798-4065.
Liquid effluents treatment by electrochemical oxidation is an alternative method actually used. In the present investigation, the aim is to deplete the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and protein nitrogen values in waste water from dairy industry. The method consists in oxidation processes of milk serum using constant and cyclic potential and, in rest and stirred condition. Part of protein nitrogen is separated as solid precipitate and agitation affects nitrogen compounds diminution. In general a stirred system benefits depletion of COD and constant potential treatment is the most efficient for electrochemical oxidation
