CRAVINO, Annabella; PEREZ, Al Duban; GARCIA, Francisco y GARCIA, Janneth. Evaluation of homogeneous, correlation and mechanistic models in the pressure gradient prediction of gas-liquid flow in vertical pipes. Rev. Fac. Ing. UCV [online]. 2009, vol.24, n.3, pp.75-82. ISSN 0798-4065.
In this work the performance of four mechanistic models, nine homogeneous models, and seventeen correlations commonly used in the pressure gradient prediction of two-phase gas-liquid flow in vertical pipes is evaluated. The predicted pressure gradient for each model is compared with the experimental pressure gradient of a two-phase flow database reported in the specialized literature. Error estimates for the predicted versus measured pressure gradient together with standard deviation for each model are presented. The database includes seventy four experimental points for air-water flow in vertical pipes with a varied range of operational conditions and diverse flow patterns. In the evaluation, nine of the studied models obtain average absolute errors less than 25%
